International Conference on Ship Manoeuvring in Shallow and Confined Water with non-exclusive focus on clean power in shallow water
18-21 May 2025, Bruges, Belgium
The 7th MASHCON conference was held from 18 to 21 May 2025 in Bruges, Belgium. The MASHCON conferences offer researchers and experts the possibility to discuss the latest developments in research and practice related to ship manoeuvring in shallow and confined water.
The 7th MASHCON conference paid particular attention to clean power in shallow water, addressing topics such as the green energy transition in shipping, near-shore emissions, and manoeuvring in shallow water using auxiliary propulsion systems, including wind assistance.
In addition to clean power, the conference also covered shallow‑water effects on ship manoeuvring, ship–bank interaction and other confined‑water effects, ship–ship interaction effects, as well as squat and other vertical motions in shallow water.
A total of 40 abstracts were accepted. The submitted papers, which were presented at the conference, were reviewed by the International Scientific Committee.
The 7th MASHCON conference was organized jointly by Flanders Hydraulics and the Ships and Marine Technology Division at Ghent University.
